A French painter of landscapes, Gustave Madelain was born in Charly, France in 1867. He exhibited at the Salon des Indépendants from 1907, gaining a fine reputation as a Post-Impressionist painter. His main subjects were street and river views in Rouen, L'Havre and Paris.
